Madhavapeddi Suresh is a distinguished Indian music composer and instrumentalist whose contributions have enriched the Telugu music industry for over four decades. Born into a family steeped in musical tradition, he began his journey as a harmonium and accordion player before evolving into one of the most respected music directors in South Indian cinema. With a repertoire spanning more than 60 films, including classics like Bhairava Dweepam and Ramayanam, Suresh has left an indelible mark through his melodic creativity and cultural authenticity. His collaborations with legendary composers and his pioneering work in television music underscore his versatility and dedication to preserving the essence of traditional music. Honored with multiple Nandi Awards, he continues to inspire generations, not only through his compositions but also through his gracious presence at cultural events, where his blessings and guidance motivate young learners to embrace the rich heritage of Annamacharya’s devotional music.
Suresh Garu built an impressive career as a keyboard player, working with luminaries like Naushad, R.D. Burman, M.S. Viswanathan, Bappi Lahiri, and others. He contributed to recording and re-recording sessions for roughly 1,000 to 1,500 films. From 1979 to 1985, he accompanied SP Balasubrahmanyam on overseas concerts, further deepening his musical expertise.
In 1989, his college friend Jandhyala gave him the break as a music director for Hai Hai Nayaka, marking a pivotal shift. He went on to compose music for over 60 Telugu films, including celebrated works such as Brundavanam (1992), Bhairava Dweepam (1994), Madam (1994), Maatho Pettukoku (1995), and Ramayanam (1997)
Suresh Garu received four prestigious Andhra Pradesh State Nandi Awards: Best Music Director for Sri Krishnarjuna Vijayam (1996), plus two awards recognizing his television compositions. As ETV’s first in-house music director, he composed for serials including the supernatural hit Anveshitha (1997–1999), and served as a judge on singing reality shows.
